5
Things You Should Consider When Selecting
Your Next Telemarketing List Vendor or Reseller:
When selecting a Telemarketing List Vendor
you want to make certain to ask some simple questions in order to
keep your telemarketing campaign on-track and on-budget. Here are 5
important considerations to keep in mind when selecting your next
telemarketing list vendor or reseller:
1.) Compare Vendors Based on Selection
Criteria:
Create a spreadsheet to track the costs of
the Vendors you are considering. Be sure to list in a column any
additional fees for selection criteria, this way you can make an
easy informed decision on which broker makes the most sense for your
project.
If you look on most search engines under
"Telemarketing List Vendor" you should yield a pretty good
compilation of list vendors you can contact. Be sure to ask the
Vendor what their minimum order is and if they are currently running
any "specials" you might want to consider.

2.) Consider Federal/ State DNC
Standards:
Make sure you ask your list vendor whether
they compare their selections against any State or Federal DNC
lists. The Federal DNC Law places this responsibility squarely on
the individual/ company conducting the telemarketing effort;
however, some list vendors may have in-house DNC lists or be able to
advise if the names you are purchasing has been compared against the
Federal or any State DNC lists.
If the list vendor does not provide this
service then you will need to check with your outbound vendor or
make arrangements to compare your purchased list against the Federal
DNC list.

any lists properly submitted to them will be 100% FTC & FCC Do Not
Call Compliant.
3.) Credits for Bad Phone Numbers:
Be sure to ask your list vendor if they
provide credits for records with bad phone numbers. This can be
helpful in saving you money when your campaign is completed.
When all calling is complete your
telemarketing vendor should be able to provide you with a file of
"bad phones" (i.e. disconnects with no forwarding #, 'high and dry
#'s and other assorted types of disconnects).
Many list vendors will provide you with
credits for these records in the hopes of retaining you as a
long-time customer -- "bad records" are a part of data reselling, so
be sure to ask how your vendor handles these various types of
credits.
4.) Credits for In-house DNC Contacts:
Along the same lines - be sure to ask your
list vendor if they will provide you with credits for any "in-house"
DNC contacts. These are records which are already listed on your
telemarketing vendor's internal DNC list.
A DNC record (even if it is an in-house
record) may be considered by some list resellers as a "bad record" -
so be sure to ask.
5.) List Performance Tracking:
Make sure you also ask your telemarketing
vendor to track each list source separately (with some sort of "key
code" or alpha-numeric identifier). This is especially important if
you have purchased multiple lists from different vendors - as it
will allow you to track one list source against the other and help
you in planning future telemarketing campaigns more easily.
